House prorogues for one hour
KATHMANDU: The major opposition parties including CPN-UML have opposed the certification of the Citizenship Bill and obstructed the regular session of the both the Houses.
As soon as the parliament session started on Sunday, lawmakers from UML, Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party stood up in front of the House of Representative and some of them encircle the well.
After Speaker Devraj Ghimire gave time, UML chief whip Padam Giri objected to the unconstitutional verification of the defunct bill. He demands that this bill should be kept inactive again and a new bill should be brought in the parliament.
He objected to the fact that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda had expressed his intention during his visit to India that he was ready to give Kalapani to get the Phulwari port of Bangladesh. He said that the prime minister should come to the parliament and apologize, otherwise the parliament will not be able to function.
Santosh Pariyar, chief whip of RSVP, also said that the process of verifying the Citizenship Bill was wrong.
RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden also protested. He said that the presidential institution has been misused for power interests.
